All good things find a destination in Goa to celebrate talent and life: The birthplace of Music, Art and Heritage, giving back much to the world, even as it draws the world’s best talent to her sunny shores.
With a unique positioning of luxury curated by the finest design and hospitality icons of India, The Project Cafe and Sol de Goa play host to India’s prolific Art icon, Allen Shaw, recently showcased by Forbes India for his exceptional craft.
With an acute perception for detail, an innate sensitivity, and a Third Eye that sees from within, Shaw’s hunger for travel and watercolours was harnessed into a formidable voice at the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, where he spent six years learning the multi-faceted techniques of design. Graduating in Communication Design with a specialisation in Animation Film Design, Shaw soon put his talent to work, drawing the attention of art connoisseurs from across India and internationally. An avid traveller-artist, capturing flights of imagination into 150 odd sketchbooks created over a 20 year journey across Japan, Hungary, Poland, Russia, Italy, France, Croatia, Goa and more, today Shaw is a forceful storyteller of his generation.
Looking forward to his Goa exhibition, Allen Shaw states, “What started as a little indulgence 20 years ago, has become my life today. I was always a storyteller, but what I have discovered over the years through these books and travelling is that I have been a nomad, a drifter, or gypsy, with many stories in my books in the form of sketches, illustrations, conversation pieces and memories. I completed 20 years of sketchbook keeping last year, and I am doing a road trip where I talk about this journey through presentations and a set of panels and sharing my sketchbooks. So the route I took was Rajkot, had an exhibition there, followed by a little talk with NID students. Next stopover was at the MSU Baroda, Faculty of Fine Arts, after which I was one of the speakers at the Pune Design Festival. I’m looking forward to Sol de Goa,” Shaw says.
Hosting a robust calendar of events this 2017, beginning with The Project Cafe’s `Allen Shaw Exhibition of Watercolours,’ Mrs Nilima Morajkar, Director, Sun Estates Group, is enthusiastic about the showcase. “It was a perfect coming together of Sol de Goa and The Project Cafe, as we believe in combining the ideology of heritage, luxury and art together. Our brand celebrates curated experiences of hospitality as our steadfast promise to Goa and our guests.”
Co-Founder, The Project Cafe, Ms Drasty Shah keenly looking forward to her first venture in Goa exudes positivity.” We’re happy to take forward our creative collaboration with Allen Shaw and Sol de Goa. Allen’s work appeals to all kinds of people and it’s always a pleasure to have him at The Project Cafe and do more collaborative events. To observe his work is Kodak moments in aquarel. At The Project Cafe we want to continue collaborating with designers, chefs, musicians and artists to support their multidisciplinary endeavors and bring new experiences to different cities,” Shah details her vision for art explorations in Goa.
The mood is set then for Shaw’s unique celebration of creativity in Goa. Salud!
