Let’s get personal with two gentlemen from two sides of the globe – India and Malaysia – and one common story that binds them both this Friday – The Mid Autumn Festival and Moon Cakes.
Meet widely decorated Executive Chef Abhishekh Basu, lion of his kitchen at the JW Marriott, Mumbai, India, and David Wong from Malaysia who gave up his corporate life to stay true to his heart — which is, keeping his family secret recipes and traditions alive and taking them into the next generation with `Swee Bee by Baker Dave’ – the family local bakery dedicated to keeping alive heritage inspired Malaysian pineapple tarts, and of course, authentic Moon cakes.
Baker Dave, as he’s known, shuns commercialisation of tradition, endearing him quickly with his peers, customers and fans. Both their stories are heart warming, alluring and inspiring, proving that cultures, food, traditions and stories bind us and carries our legacies forward.
