The musical inspired by the award-winning movie, La Vie En Rose starring Nathalie Lermitte – a French performer hailed as `Edith Piaf’s legitimate musical heiress,’ by the tabloids and critics alike – will bring alive the spirit of the legendary French singer in a mesmerizing performance bound to captivate her international fans, old and new, on May 10th & 11th, at the Mediacorp Theatre, Singapore, at 8.00pm.
Conceived and directed by the acclaimed Gil Marsalla and starring Nathalie Lermitte, Piaf! The Show is a captivating tribute unanimously praised by Piaf’s inner circle as “the most beautiful tribute,” ever produced on the legendary singer’s life and career. The show illustrates the magic of Piaf’s life captured beautifully through her timeless songs and never-before-seen images curated as a mesmerizing two-part musical journey showcasing France’s most beloved iconic chanteuse.
With more than 400 performances in over 50 countries, and a million tickets sold, Piaf! The Show is the biggest French success in the world since 2015! In 2017, the `Piaf! Le Spectacle’ received the ultimate consecration selling out at Carnegie Hall in New York and at the Olympia in Paris. Forever remembered by the world as the greatest musical talent who wrote and performed her signature song, `La Vien en Rose’ in 1945, the song was entered into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1998.
Presented by LOL ASIA in Singapore, Piaf! The Show is a celebration of Piaf’s enduring legacy, marking a rare opportunity for Singaporean audiences to experience the magic of her timeless repertoire.
Accompanied by a stellar quartet of Parisian musicians, the performance aims to transport spectators to the cobblestone streets of Paris, where Piaf’s voice once echoed through the cafes and cabarets of Montmartre. The first part of the two-part show will give audiences a feel of the legendary bohemian district of Montmartre, where music, art and beauty met the semi-world of Parisian excess and hedonistic living. Through soul-stirring performances of classics such as `La Vie en Rose,’ `Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien,’ `Hymne à l’Amour,’ `Milord,’ the second part of the performance features Edith in her post-war glory days, her performances then harkening a call back reminiscent of Europe’s burgeoning rise for entertainment and a bustling nightlife.
Edith Piaf’s songs are hailed as “pearls of 20th century music,” and the foundations of the chanson genre and tradition. “Our aim is to bring French music and the personality of Edith Piaf closer to the younger generation.
